Hopfield Labs is a research lab working on memory.
Every AI system today is stateless. Sessions start cold, context is lost, and reasoning is constrained by what can be reconstructed in the moment. The tools that try to solve this either capture too little or capture everything with no way to find what matters.
Human memory does not work by storing and searching text. It works by reinstating the context in which something was originally encountered. What you were doing, what you were thinking about, what led you there. The path matters as much as the destination.
We are building memory systems grounded in this principle. Retrieval indexed by context, not just content. Architecture inspired by how the hippocampus and neocortex actually organize and recall experience.
We think memory is the bottleneck. Not model size, not data, not inference speed. The ability to accumulate, structure, and retrieve what has already been seen and understood.
More soon.
